EVANGELICAL CHURCH
The term ”evangelical” means different things to different people. So, I would like to first define what we mean when say that Harvest Fresno Church is an evangelical church. In order to do this, we need to define “evangelical.”
The term evangelical comes from the Greek word that means "good news." Evangelism is sharing the good news of the salvation that is available through Jesus Christ. So, in a sense, all churches should be evangelical. However, the term morphed and has been used to describe those who believe in the fundamentals of the Christian faith based on a strict adherence to the Word of God.
In other words, an evangelical church is a Bible-believing church, one that holds to the inspiration, inerrancy, and authority of Scripture, the Trinity, the deity of Christ, and salvation by grace through faith alone in Christ alone. It is in this regard and definition of the term “evangelical” that Harvest Fresno church is considered an evangelical church.
Since evangelical means one who shares the good news of the Gospel. Then Harvest Fresno Church may also be considered a Gospel church, one dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Our mission statement is “Making disciples who make disciples of Jesus Christ for the glory of God.” To make a disciple requires first, sharing the Gospel. Secondly, teaching people what the Bible says about living out the Christian faith. When done that person then shares the good news of Jesus Christ with others and makes more disciples.
